Forecast for Wednesday, August 26

TODAY: Enjoy the quiet while we've got it, because Mother Nature has apparently decided two boring days in a row was enough. Any patchy morning fog will burn off, leaving us with mostly sunny skies and highs climbing into the mid 80s. Humidity will also start making its comeback this afternoon, because apparently comfortable August weather had an expiration date.

TONIGHT: Clouds increase as our next weather-maker starts getting itself organized. Lows fall into the mid 60s with a light south wind. Most of tonight should stay dry, so if you've got anything to get done outside before Mother Nature clocks back in, tonight isn't a bad time to do it.

THURSDAY: And here comes the nonsense. Showers and thunderstorms become likely, especially during the afternoon and evening, with a 70% chance of rain. Some storms could become severe with damaging winds and heavy rainfall. It'll also be humid with highs in the mid 80s, so yes, the atmosphere is putting the soup back on the menu.

Adams County is currently on the western side of the more concerning setup, with the greatest severe and flash-flooding threat focused farther east toward the Susquehanna Valley. That doesn't give us a free pass. Damaging winds around 60 mph are possible with stronger storms, marginally severe hail is also possible, and heavy downpours could cause localized flooding.

SCPAWX BOTTOM LINE: Today is the day to enjoy. Sunshine, mid 80s and increasing humidity, but no weather headaches. Thursday is a different story, especially from the afternoon into the evening. We're not sounding alarms and we're not telling anybody to cancel plans, but Thursday has officially earned a spot on the Mother Nature Watch List.
